Here at Garage Grown Gear, we make getting to know the founders of the small brands we carry part of our routine process. But aside from meet and greets at Outdoor Retailer, we rarely get to hang out with them in person – especially not for an entire weekend of skiing.
So, when PoleClinometer Founder Grayson King, proposed a trip out to the Tetons, I was thrilled. I began cataloging my favorite backcountry stashes to show him and thinking up cool tours we may be able to link together.
While Vermont, where he calls home, has plenty of amazing outdoor recreation opportunities, I wanted to give him the Teton’s full wow factor.
Well, as fate would have it, it’s one heck of a rainy weekend here in the Tetons. There is some snow up high – albeit a bit mashed potato-y – and occasional windows of visibility, but it hasn’t quite measured up to the grandiose visions from my daydreams.
Luckily, Grayson is a go-with-the-flow kind of guy, and we still managed to have plenty of fun on Day 1 of our weekend. Check out the pictures below!
Today, Teton Pass is closed entirely due to the threat of wet slides, so we’ll likely instead focus our attention on a good brainstorming sess.
PoleClinometer – an inclinometer for your ski pole in the form of a sticker – continues to be one of our bestselling brands, and geeking out on business strategy sounds like a mighty fine way to spend a Saturday to me, especially if it’s dumping buckets of liquid H2O outside.
As the saying goes ... when life gives you lemons, grab tequila and salt.
