While most YouTube savvy humans are well versed with Miranda Goes Outside, Darwin on the Trail, Jupiter Hikes, MyLifeOutdoors, Kyle Hates Hiking, Dan Becker, Justin Outdoors, and Homemade Wanderlust... there are a TON of other small creators who make really interesting and unique backpacking content!
Looking for some new faces and perspectives? Check out these five YouTube & Instagram video content creators who are worth checking out!
Harmen Hoek
If you aren't familiar with Harmen Hoek's videos, you are in for a cinematic treat. With beautiful landscapes and no talking, it's like no other channel! While Harmen shows the gear he uses, it's not the center of his videos. Plus, he is increasingly using gear from small and cottage brands. Get ready to be inspired.
Oscar Hikes
I challenge you not to learn something from Oscar's videos. I certainly have! From silicon under your sleeping pad (to keep it from slipping around) to tips for reducing condensation in your tent, I've been pretty impressed by the quality and usefulness of the content he creates. His content seems to keep getting better!
The Hungry Hiker
Kathleen of The Hungry Hiker has a pretty big following, and she's put out a TON of videos over the past four years. She's knowledgeable, honest, and centers a bunch of her content around making the outdoors more approachable. In a medium dominated by men, Kathleen is crushing it!
Black Hiking Queen
A Texas native, Irene Ogeto creates upbeat hiking videos to inspire us and remind us of the importance of building a connection to nature. While most of her videos are on Instagram here, she does have a YouTube presence as well. Irene can really help remind us of why we venture outdoors in the first place!
Tim Schwartz
While Tim Schwartz's channel is the smallest on this list, he's got a lot of great things to say about ultralight backpacking and the gear he uses. Currently hiking the PCT, his videos are pleasing to watch, highly informative, and contain a lot of "how-tos."
