All the snags
This is an excellent choice if you're not going to be in danger of snagging this shirt on branches etc., but if bushwhacking or on a less maintained trail I found it snagged all over immediately. Likely great for... well, rivers. Not great durability for the price, but breathable and odor resistant while providing good sun protection.
Really Love This Hoody
I've bought Voormi River Run Hoodies in the past and wear them constantly - as a lightweight sun layer in summer and a lightweight base layer in winter, and all times in between. The new colours - dirt (brown) and dark olive are gorgeous - and much nicer for my colouring than my blue and pinky-red earlier versions. The new colour versions also have additional buttons (4 vs 1) at the neck which is great for really snugging up the neckline in cold and windy weather. I also love the new integrated thumb holes (vs the thumb loop elastics on my earlier versions) which let you partially cover your hands with the sleeves for more sun or cold protection, and just feel higher quality. In fact the whole hoody seems to feel a bit more robust and better quality than my earlier versions, although, apart from a few threads caught by bush, those are still going strong after years of wear. I really like the new more natural, earthy colours though, and the new features. I'm 5'7", weigh 132 pounds, chest 37", waist 30", hips 36" and bought one medium and one large. Both are fine - the medium is a more streamlined, slightly trimmer fit, but still good long sleeve and body length, and the large is just slightly more of a relaxed fit, but not sloppy. I couldn't be happier with my purchase! One of these is definitely coming on the Camino de Santiago with me next year!!
Not for every weather/condition
wore this hoodie in sierra in july. the fabric is thin, it is not sun protective . got sunburn through the fabric. also it doesn't give any protection against mosquito. in the past i wore exoficio and rei shirts, they performed better. the fabric content is 52% merino wool, 48% polyester , it is a bit scratchy. patagonia/smartwool tops have better feel. so my conclusion is that this hoodie is good for no mosquito, no direct sun condition.
The BEST Sun Hoodie!!
i bought the river run hoodie a few months ago. it' my new favorite piece of clothing! i live & hike at higher altitudes where the sun is extra potent. i have fair skin that burns easily. finally, i decided to invest in a sun protection hoodie instead of donning my go to tank tops for hiking. i chose this particular piece from voormi after a lot of research. i'll be using it on an upcoming 1,200 mile thru hike and i am so glad i bought this! because it is wool it holds up to the no stink test for a long time. it isn't leaching micro-plastics into my skin or the environment. non-itchy, it is so light weight and breathable considering all of the coverage it offers. it packs down pretty well. i have long limbs relative to my body and for once the sleeves are long enough to adequately cover the backs of my hands as the design is supposed to do. this is my new favorite piece of hiking clothing. it's versatility makes it a winner since it can be used for breathable sun protection during hotter times and worn as a mid-layer as the seasons change. there's a little button at the neck to keep the hood in place when needed and the garment is roomy without being bulky. if i could change one thing about it i would probably ask them to integrate the thumb loops rather than using the elastic ones they have connected at the ends of the sleeves. but because the sleeves are long enough, hands are protected whether or not you're using the loops.
I'd love to review it but...
I'd love to provide a review for this product, but I never received it. The hoodie was one of the items that was stolen out of the package while it was in transit to me and I did not receive a replacement.
