Warm but not a sweat maker

I'm working on my husband to get one. It is incredibly light, warm, and breathable. No "plastic bag" effect, but NOT wind resistant as advertised.

Warmer than I thought it could be

I just took my new Alpha 90 hoodie on a 7 day trip through the Sierra and it performed far better than expected. I never needed more than this fleece and a rain shell if it was windy. The weight to warmth ratio of this fleece is crazy. It seems delicate but I'm not overly careful with my gear and so far it's holding up. I'm buying one for my husband before our next trip.

    Super light and super warm

A perfect active layer. Warm when you are around camp breathes incredibly well when moving. Great for backpacking and overall mid layer. I wouldn’t climb in it though without a shell. Make sure that you keep it away from Velcro.

    well-made, innovative piece of gear

The Senchi alpha 90 hoodie is well-made and a really interesting piece of gear. It is incredibly lightweight, but offers incredible warmth-to-weight (with a rain/wind layer) and breathability when used on its own. The sizing is a little on the slim/snug side, but the fabric has some stretchiness (less than most regular fleece). The fabric itself is pretty fragile, not ideal for bushwacking, but it's fine for basic trail use (I keep it stored at home in the fabric pouch it comes in, also to be used when washing. I'm babying it by keeping it from catching on random velcro or anything that could catch it). I purchased it in spring, so I've used it mainly emphasizing breathable warmth, but looking forward to using it in cooler months, replacing carrying a puffy layer by pairing the alpha fleece with a rain jacket.
