The flavor is good, but the texture and appearance are pretty gross, even by backcountry standards.
Grew on me with each bite
sweet potato and peanut is not something i'm used to combining, so the first bite was...interesting. by mid-bag i was hooked! one pouch fed one hungry paddler.
Best "mix it up" meal when you're tired of noodles or mash
a lot of meals tend to be similar in flavor and get monotonous. this has been my favorite meal to mix it up so your palate get's something different. delicious!
OMG this stuff is awesome
i bought my first package of this from rei. now, i am a huge fan of african peanut soup and i make my own all the time, so i was a bit skeptical of this meal. i took this meal on a 5 day trip through the core of the enchantment lakes in wa. state back in august. ate it on our 3rd night. all i can say is this is the best backpacking meal i have ever had. the flavors were right on and it was just the right size for a meal. when i got home i went to order some more and it was not available anywhere. so happy it is back on the shelves. well worth every penny imho. btw, i'll be buying it here now that i know y'all carry it.
CanadaMuch tastier than I had expected.
The bag is the perfect size and washed up nice for re-using. The stew itself rehydrated well, had a stew consistency, and tasted delicious. This peanut stew has a tomato base which was a welcome change in flavor profile to the sweet potato peanut stew I make at home. Obviously not suitable for those with peanut allergies.
