Smooth Setup and Use
First time purchasing and using an anything like this and it was an easy setup. Being able to check in here and there with friends and family was nice for them.

Great Interface, good value, depenable
A sat communicator that works best via the provided phone app, but also works as a standalone emergency com device. Uses whatever network is available, wifi, cell, satt, via a friendly messaging app on phone. Plans are adjustable and flexible.

ZOLEO
I recently purchased the ZOLEO as a safety backup while doing solo section hikes of the PA AT. I have only used it a few times so far, but am definitely a fan so far. I love the messaging through the app on my phone.
Still happy with it after three years.
i used a different device in the past that was limited to two pre written messages. with the zoleo i can message anytime, anywhere. the device will automatically use either cell signal, wifi or satellite depending on what’s available. yes, you need your phone to text but most of us have them anyway. the sos feature and sending your location to an in-town contact works without a phone. i highly recommend this to anyone who loves the backcountry or ocean.
Zoleo is still serving me well.
i have owned my zoleo for right at two years now. i am very pleased with its performance and durability. i have hiked many miles in the rain and fog and it continues to work flawlessly. i hiked a portion of the benton mackaye trail with a friend who was carrying a garmin mini. he lost service several times but was able to regain connection after changing location. my zoleo never lost signal on our trip.
