It's some classic frog togs but even lighter. I never did like the pants. Still don't. They work for what they're intended to do. Keep the rain off you.
Waterproof, truly breathable, wind proof
Over thousands of trail miles this is the most versatile outer layer ever. It is a miracle. It breathes so well that I have used it in the Texas heat to escape attacks from saltwater mosquitoes. In single-digit weather and snow it has kept me dry and comfortable in the wind while backpacking. It does not sweat; it breathes and It never wets out even in the hardest freezing rain. I’ve gone through all the highly touted (and expensive) wp/breathable and DWR fabrics and have always been disappointed. I have decided they are scams. There are sound technical reasons why that is so. DriDucks is the real thing. People worry about durability. I don’t bushwhack in it, but the only damage it has sustained is one small tear, now covered with duct tape. It can smell funky after a few hundred trail miles. A good soak in distilled water (never soap or detergent ) takes care of that. Do yourself a favor.
very cool BUT
this an ultra light, non-durable suit ! If you wear this under a big backpack, be cautious not to stress the suit too much. the seams are gonna break. I did 4 consecutive rainy days of trail with the frogg suit, and it did great. Be aware that it does not breath, so you can be really hot during the climb, especially if you have a backpack that block hot air from coming out of your suit. I totally recommend, if you know this. A big 5 stars
Waterproof but extremely fragile
The rain suit did a great job at keeping water off of me however the very second I decided to squat down the pants ripped apart at the crotch and the jacket got a tear in the back. If you are planning on doing any kind of work in bad weather I highly recommend a different rain suit
light weight for a cost!
As with all things, to be this light the Frogg Toggs jacket is no acceptation. I was wearing it as a wind-protective layer, and I needed to do my morning poo. I climbed into the bushes, did the duty, and noticed a few holes later. I'm not at all surprised, because everyone should know by now Frogg Toggs are not durable. I'm happy though because I have a patch kit, and I'm saving weight!
