Perfect for cold, rainy stretches, the Ultralight Rain Mitts keep your paws dry. Warm also, when used with a liner glove. High Tail Designs recommends lightweight Possum-down gloves.
Using Dyneema® Composite Fabric in conjunction with Dyneema® Hybrid Fabric, these mitts are super lightweight at about one ounce for a pair, but surprisingly abrasion-resistant in the palm, where your hands will be in contact with trekking poles. These are a must for cold-weather trips or if you're expecting rain, sleet, or snow.
Features:
- Water-resistant (as close to waterproof as you can get without welded seams)
- Abrasion-resistant palm (to prevent deterioration while using trekking poles)
- One-handed wrist cinch fastener to tighten/loosen each mitt
- Fully-taped seams
- Large glove pull on each mitt for ease of donning
- Shock cord wrist cinch to prevent water ingress
- Loops for attaching mitten hooks
- Unique colorways
- Ultralight construction
Note: These mitts are meant to go over liner gloves. They will work without them but are much more comfortable and warm if using a liner glove and may fit a little large if not using liners.

He loved the mittens!
Gave the mittens to my husband for his birthday and he was absolutely delighted!!
Really like these!
I’ve used these a couple of times with wool liners when my hands had gotten cold and wet with my sungloves scrambling up some rocks. I changed into the wool liners with these mitts on the way down and my hands warmed up in a few minutes in 40 degree weather. I was using poles and had no problems gripping them with these mitts. The mitts are light and take up no room in my pack so I will bring them along just in case I need them. They are really handy. Of course they aren’t breathable but they do keep water from the outside from penetrating. Once your hands are warm, take them off to prevent moisture from building up inside.
Warm
i love these. it is so hard to keep your fingers warm hiking. i've worn these over my mittens in single digit temps and my hands were comfortable at the start of the hike and hours in.
Too light to leave home
I got these to be an emergency pair of dry mitts to keep in my ski touring pack (can pair with down mittens). Thankfully I haven’t had to use them, but they are so light and take up almost no space, so why not take them everywhere?
beautiful and simple.
It hasn't rained yet, But they fit very well, and I can easily fit a liner glove underneath when it gets colder.
