Way too spicy!

I was SO looking forward to this on my recent backpacking trip as it sounded delicious. Despite the 2 out of 5 spicy rating, my mouth was on fire. Maybe my package had extra jalapenos or something. Will not repurchase.

Yummy, but 8 oz of extra water

First of all, this meal was really delicious. I was exhausted and not feeling particularly hungry when I made this, but knew I needed to eat. It was so yummy I was able to finish the whole thing. I didn’t read the directions before I bought it or took it on trail, however. This requires you to pour out about 8 oz of water after the noodles are rehydrated. So you end up with a yummy meal…and an 8 oz cup of spicy jalapeño tea. I wasn’t really interested in attracting animals to my campsite, so there’s not much left to do but drink it. It was actually kind of tasty in a weird way, like broth. But wish I had realized before choosing that meal to bring with me. I’m still giving it five stars because it was delicious. And wondering if there’s a cooking method that requires a bit less pour off.

Delicious, and no onions or garlic! Hallelujah!

As someone with an unusual set of food sensitivities (FODMAP issues - major problems with onions and garlic, and to a lesser extent mushrooms, kale, and everything related to kale), backpacking meals are a minefield where I just try and find the ones that will hurt me the least. This is the single only backpacking meal I have ever found that has absolutely no onions or garlic. It is also objectively delicious, and just spicy enough to be interesting. Will be buying forever. Love!

Worth the extra water and time!

Seriously yummy! This is my favorite of all the mac n cheese options for backpacking because the pasta tastes fresh rather than gummy and the chilis add a nice heat. We added dehydrated chicken to boost the protein and a few crumbled parmesan crisps as a topping. Caveat: I wouldn't recommend it for longer dry season backpacking unless you are camping next to a water source because it does require 16oz of water (8 oz you pour off) and 20 minutes to prepare.

I was surprised

I've never purchased a backpackers meal because I am a picky eater and I'm frugal. I made my own meals. After reading and watching reviews of this product, I decided to give it a try. I loved it! It is easy to prepare and has just enough spice. I will be including this product on future backpacking trips.
