BUY IT DO NOT HESITATE
y’all this was probably top 3 favorite freeze dried meal i’ve had.. maybe even my favorite. it was so so good. it was a great amount of food for a meal at the end of a long, hard day of hiking. downside was rehydration time i guess but if you have a good book or good company + a glass of trail wine then it’s no big deal. i have been home from that trip for a week and i have thought about this meal everyday. it’s good enough that i want to make it for dinner at home… or with eggs like another reviewer said. plus the packaging is compostable! can’t say enough great things.
Sooo good!
this meal tastes amazing and is very filling. i also added an avocado to it, which bumped it up a notch as well, but would also eat it on its own.
Tasted amazing!!
Great meal and was very impressed with ingredients and would buy again.
So good, multiple meals with tortillas
i made this at home to try it out. while rehydration took a long time, it ends up being a lot of food and is super tasty. i ended up making 3 lunches out of it with tortillas. for the third day's lunch, i sauteed some mushrooms, red pepper, onion, and garlic with some more of the spice packet (i used about a third for just the beans and rice) and i added some more pinto beans and cheese to the remaining quinoa, which ended up making meal #4. if i was out for several days, i could definitely split this with a friend on trail until hiker hunger kicked in. definitely ordering more and will try with eggs next.
Good but not perfect
the good: taste, consistency, and quantity! the not so good: 25 minutes is a long time to wait for rehydration and the spice pack is nuclear! it's good that the spices are in a separate pack so you can add it a little at a time. go easy on it until you are sure!
