Baby bear canister
Smallest of bear canisters, this little can is perfect for a quick overnight trip, for sharing out the load in a group, or for your lunch left at a base while you venture and explore, climb, fish, or hunt. This size allows hikers, regardless of age, build, or fitness, the independence to manage and carry their own backcountry food safely.
The same quality, design, and bear worthiness as BearVault's classic bear containers, the BV425-Sprint makes for a simple, light 1-2 day sprint into bear country.
Features:
- Specifically designed to be wide, round, and slippery to reduce leverage points for entry from bear jaws, claws, and paws
- Weight is low and volume is high, thanks to the durable, polycarbonate construction
- Transparent canister is easy to see into and doesn’t require you to empty the contents of the container to find specific items
- Wide opening allows you to reach all the way in to find your tasty treats
- Screw-on lid is intuitive and secure, and doesn’t require extra tools to operate; no need to overtighten
- Strap guides aid in strapping and packing canister to your preference; an ideal place for your can is inside your pack just above your sleeping bag
- Rounded corners allow for smooth packing and removal
- Container doubles as a camp stool, a luxury most backpackers leave behind; close lid fully when using as a stool to preserve the screw-top threads
- This BearVault model has approval from both the Sierra Interagency Black Bear Group and Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee (IGBC)

The Right Size If You Go Short
The perfect size for those short hops when security is required ( always ). Haven't tried it, but could use 2 for longer outings and split the load with a partner - more packing configuration possibilities.
Love this BV425!
i have had the bv450 for a couple years and actually packed it a few times then unpacked it and used my food bag or ursak instead. too big, heavy and bulky for just me. i don't hike where cans are "required" but...i have seen bears on trail so they are there. the instant i saw the bv425....i bought it. it's excellent for solo trips. i repack my food in freezer ziplocks and reconstitute in a food cozy to keep it hot while reconstituting. i can fit 4 days of food in this 425 if i really cram it all in there tight. it's the perfect size and smaller, lighter and less bulky than the 450. i have used it on several trips since i got it. i sleep so much better knowing my food and the bears are safe. my smellables obviously don't fit in it so i just pct hang my smellables and trash in an opsak inside a zpack food throw bag. love this bv425! i call it my baby vault 425. 😍

Tested on Rae Lakes Loop
This truly is an overnight bear can in my opinion. I did a 2-night traverse of the 40mi mile Rae lakes loop in August of 2022 and found that my food barely fit and my toiletries had to go in the bear box which dictated where I had to camp. I usually dont bring an abundance of food so keep that in mind if you are considering this can. Otherwise it brings all the normal quality and functionality of a normal Bear Vault. It’s great! Just really small.
