These perform extremely well in medium soil. The v-shape helps prevents leaning in, when the open v is facing the tent. I use 10 of these to hold my Plex Solo -total weight for 10 is 105 grams. Not one of these stakes loosened on me in two nights of use.

Why do the notches face the wrong way? The stake should go in the ground with the concave side facing the tent, but then the notches are useless this way. The notches are backwards. They should face away from the concave side, in the opposite direction, so the notches can catch the cord.

We used the same set of MSR Groundhog stakes for about 4,000 miles of hiking. We finally broke one and needed a replacement on trail fast. Bought these and both stakes we bought crumbled/folded over within two days where it is most narrow.
