Fitting a Backpack
Choosing the correct size for a backpack is essential for comfort and functionality. A properly fitted backpack can significantly enhance your experience, whether for daily use, travel, or outdoor activities.
To determine the correct backpack size, consider the following measurements:
- Torso Length: Measure from the base of your neck (C7 vertebrae) to the top of your hip bones (italic crest). This measurement is crucial for ensuring the backpack sits correctly on your back.
- Hip Circumference: Measure around the widest part of your hips. This measurement helps in selecting a backpack with a hip belt that fits securely.
- Volume Capacity: Consider the amount of gear you plan to carry. Backpack volume is typically measured in liters.
It is important to note that different brands may have variations in sizing. Therefore, it is advisable to consult specific brand sizing charts when available. Additionally, consider the type of activities you will be engaging in, as this may influence the size and features required in a backpack. We have included some helpful videos below from some of our pack suppliers.
For optimal comfort, ensure that the backpack fits snugly against your back without excessive movement. Adjust the straps accordingly to achieve a balanced load distribution. A well-fitted backpack can reduce strain on your back and shoulders, enhancing your overall experience.
