Very lightweight. Not very packable.

I love how lightweight it is but its fairly tall and doesn't telescope down to pack easily. I have to use an extra shock cord to secure it when I stick it in my water bottle pocket

Functional

It deploys as it should. And keeps water or sun off of me. All in a convenient light weight design.

Modern Day Parasol

Incredibly light. Excellent sun protection and cooling effect. Will be buying a sleeve to better protect it from errant bushes.

From Luxury Item to Essential

I've changed my mind about trekking umbrellas...from Luxury to Essential. These days I no longer use a pack cover. Umbrellas are more versatile and using modern components lighter as well. Sure, helps keep you less wet when hiking green tunnel trails like the AT understanding there maybe times you'll need to stow it and thus keep it from snagging. The plus side, for me at least, is the ability to reflect sun. I live in FL, either uber or grab a bus, and having an reflective umbrella makes getting around town in 90 deg plus weather very nice. Plus, in the afternoon there is typically a rain. Regardless of urban or desert use shade is important. This model only weighs 2 ounces more than my carbon fiber but the carbon fiber model is way more packable. Flimsy I might also add. This umbrella is a very nice piece of gear for both on and off trail. Plus, while I'm thinking about it, if ever you need to do an emergency evac the reflective surface could signal your EMT quicker and thus help you or someone else.

Great for Camping, Hiking and Beach Walks

I bought this for a road trip through southern california along the beach. I hike often in dry, desert areas and wanted this for short day hikes, as well as future overnight hikes after my trip. I loved it. It is very lightweight, easy to use and carry. It was delightful while I hiked down to the beach and sat for a while, without needing a full beach umbrella. I also popped it open to block the driver side window in my car while I was sleeping in it, and it worked beautifully. All in all, I think this was a wonderful and versatile purchase which now sits right by my door for short park walks in addition to my weekly hikes. It is superior, in my view, to UV face coverings which get very hot. I felt a breeze and shade while walking. I'll probably buy some for my parents as well in future.
