Best Pot to Date
30+ years of pots and the Vargo Sierra Magna is the best to date. Shape means extra surface area exposed to flame and super fast boil times. Perches perfectly on stoves including small alcohol stoves like my homemade supercat. Shape is also insanely easy to eat out of, then clean after. Long handle stays cool and makes for easy pouring, then securely fastens lid with stove/fuel/lighter/rag stored inside - don't need a pot bag. Volume lines are actually LABELED in oz and ml and on the INSIDE of the pot for exact pours. Perforated lid to reduce pressure boilovers and drain pasta. Lid handle stays cool also, and if you're feeling squirrely, you can screw it off and customize your lid handle anyway you want. I am so happy with this pot, I purchased a second to live on the shelf in case Vargo decides to do something terrible and discontinue this model before I am ready for a replacement. Once you find something perfect, load up if you can.
Couple with a Keith Rice Steamer if you backpack with an Asian wife/GF who likes traditional REAL food on the trail.
Sierra cups? I'd rather have a BOT! BUT, This thing is huge and is a legit cooking vessel similar to a wok. For sub week trips where you can carry and cook "homestyle" foods on the trail, this is just super to use as a mini wok for two people. Combined with the phenomenal Titanium Keith rice steamer, this is just a super combo to eat super healthy, delicious food on the trail AND to keep a happy hiking partner happy! Priceless

just got this and initial impressions are it’s a great size and comes with a quality storage bag. should be so much easier to clean after dinner with my msr scraper since you can easily get your hand inside it. love the quality.
