Ultralight And Ultra-Loud
Ultralight emergency whistle made by Hilltop Packs for Apex Giant! There are two different versions. The single barrel they designed it to be as small and light as they could get it but still loud as possible. For slightly more weight, the double barrel adds more volume.
Note: The hole is big enough to put a cord through for use as a necklace or an extra carrying handle. Any cord with a 2.2mm diameter or smaller will fit (including 550 paracord). The single barrel version will also fit most keyrings. However most caribiners will NOT fit through.
CAUTION: Note on DB levels. All emergency whistles over 70db can cause damage to your ears. Whistles over 110 can do instant and sometimes unrepairable damage. Even though these are ultralight whistles they can still do serious injury. Please use with caution when needed. These are not toy whistles.

I fortunately haven't needed to use this in an emergency setting, but I think it'll be very handy if it's ever needed - it's plenty loud! It weighs next to nothing and the bright orange makes it easier to keep track of, definitely bringing this along for future trips.
Switched whistles
i ordered this whistle but was sent a titanium whistle instead. the whistle that i received was more expensive so i guess ggg thought i would be happy with the change. not a big deal but i would have preferred to try out the originally ordered whistle which i am guessing was out of stock.
Mine works great; baffled by the other experiences people have had.
bought the single barrel, it is damn loud even barely blowing (should have plugged my ears during testing :)), and it was not angle-dependent for me. i am sure the other reviews are truly what people experiences, so maybe it's a quality control issue?
Are they kidding?
terrible whistle. for one, you have to find the right angle to get any sound out, and two, the sound isn't loud at all, even after several attempts. the idea behind a whistle sound is to have a loud enough blast for someone to hear, down the trail. i doubt anyone would hear it unless they were right beside you. for just a few more grams, get a nice loud boat whistle.
