The Desert pack was designed for longer, heavier hauls
The Desert pack has more internal volume than the V2 to accommodate long carries and shoulder season conditions. The adjustable side pockets easily fit two water bottles. It includes a stashable hip belt, designated stake pocket, and stretchy bottom and shoulder strap pockets.

I originally got the V2 and while I liked it, it was just a little too small and narrow for what I needed. The Desert Pack was exactly what I was looking for; it also feels a bit sturdier and more polished than the V2. GGG made the exchange process quick and easy, I'll definitely shop here again.
United StatesLove it. Just wish it were a tad wider to fit a bear can horizontally but no biggie. Besides that, every feature of this pack is perfect and wouldn’t change a thing about.

The pack is the pack. It’s great. It’s what I hoped for and nothing less. With a NEMO sit pad as back padding, it really is comfortable. I’m also surprised by the strap comfort. So far this pack has been great. It's my first frameless pack so it took a little getting use to as far as packing it for comfort ability and stability but it soon became my favorite pack to use. I love how lightweight and minimal it is but every feature of this pack I find very useful and makes organization easy. The stash able hip belt is a big plus for me because even on my framed packs I never liked using my hip belt and let it dangle sort of in the way. This one is great for heavier loads but tucks away nicely the rest of the time. I definitely recommend this pack for any hiker with a low base weight looking for a frameless pack.
