Walking across deserts in the blazing sun or through summer rain showers shouldn't be a misery. The Silver Shadow Series provides a large reflective surface on top to deflect sunlight and a black underside to absorb wandering rays, allowing you to walk cooler and better protected. Its coating sheds water easily, eliminating the need to wear sweaty rain gear.
The Silver Shadow Mini is the collapsible, compact umbrella in our line. Packing to 40% the length of our other umbrellas, it is ideal for travel or when space is paramount.
Update:
Six Moon Designs now comes with the Mini Replacement Handle with your Umbrella. The Replacement handle gives you a more comfortable EVA foam grip to hold onto for longer hikes. As an added bonus the new handle makes this umbrella work much better with the Hands Free Kit. If you do not want the added bulk of the EVA replacement handle you can keep on the smaller plastic handle.

Handle with Care
I bought this umbrella because of its packability, knowing that I may be sacrificing durability for compactness. I did not, however, expect one of the ribs to snap after just 1-2 days of use in calm conditions. My friend coincidentally has the same umbrella (purchased directly from Six Moon Designs) and his snapped in the same place after just a few uses. This is likely a quality issue and not just a random defect. Thankfully, GGG customer service was very responsive and handled the matter quickly. I do still appreciate how lightweight the umbrella is and the option to swap out the small handle for a more comfortable foam one.
It’s an umbrella
It takes some time to open but for the weight and size it’s hard to beat. I find since it’s smaller than the long version it is more convenient to have which outweighs how long it takes to deploy IMO, which is the only draw back I have noticed, and it really isn’t a big deal at all especially when you get used to it. It has been very durable in my experience. I would recommend it.
Great for Portuguese Camino
just finished walking the portuguese camino, 350+ miles. this umbrella got a lot of use. we had intense heat for the first part - umbrellas are great for heat with the extra air flow( no hat) and coverage. equally great for the second part that was rainy and windy. lightweight, compact, durable!
BUY IT! 5 Stars
i bought mine in oct of 2019. it lives in my daypack. most recently, i used it daily at the eaa airventure 2023 show. as the sun and heat beamed down, people would ask me where, inside the venue, i purchased my umbrella, when i allowed them to hold it, they marveled at its lightweight. one person on an open air golf cart commented, "i think this lowered the temperature by 10 degrees." the woman sitting next to him agreed. as the venue didn't sell it, i was offered all manner of gifts for mine. with its double layer of material, it doesn't saturate in a downpour as fast as most umbrellas. now, don't expect miracles. in high winds with rain, i put the umbrella away and grab my rain coat, zpack dcf rain kilt, and wait it out under my hyperlight mountain gear dcf flat tarp. bonus, it blocks my face from the uv rays. buy it!
