Kevin “Spud” Parlato founded Spuds Adventure Gear in December 2021 while thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. During his hike, he got an idea to solve one of his biggest pain points – storing his trekking poles.
On the Appalachian Trail there are many fun rock scrambles where free hands are necessary to climb up, down, and around rocks. The only issue with these scrambles was/is – what to do with trekking poles while climbing? It can be a pain to take off your pack every time you need to store your poles, and allowing them to dangle from your arms by the wrist straps can get in the way of climbing and has the potential to cause dangerous situations.
With plenty of time to think while hiking, Spud came up with an idea to quickly to store and retrieve his poles from his pack. Two months and 20 prototypes later, Stick Stashers was born– a quick connecting magnetic pole mount. With a goal to create products to help everyone enjoy the outdoors, Spud launched Spuds Adventure Gear!
