uBu Foods is a small, family business that wants to do right by you and the planet. They think about climate change often. uBu Foods believes that chickpeas and hummus are important foods in a world with a changing climate and threatened ecosystems. Not only are chickpeas an inherently sustainable crop, but they're a rich source of plant protein. So finding a way to make and sell hummus while minimizing the impact of their business on the environment is a priority for them.
The thing about conventional hummus is that it needs to be refrigerated from the moment it’s made until you pull it out of the fridge to eat it. All of that weighs on uBu Foods. But what if hummus didn’t need to be refrigerated? What if it weighed half as much? What if it didn't need plastic?
Hiker's Hummus is made in small batches from great ingredients then freeze-dried. It is designed for hikers, campers, and anyone else who packs food to eat outdoors. By freeze drying using renewable energy, uBu Foods can both eliminate the need for refrigeration and make their hummus lighter & less energy-intensive to transport.
