Does NOT taste instant and has a smooth almost creamy taste w/ barely any bitterness! I usually drink medium to light blends and this is it! If you like cream with your coffee, this is very close as I do and I didn't feel like I needed any cream. The coffee was tasty enough to not need cream and I feel like that says a lot about how great tasting the coffee truly is.

For the weight and pack size I wasn't disappointed with the taste. It's a tiny package, that survived the rough handling in my food bag. I'm just going over to instant coffee for my ultralight weight trips and unlike other instants, one packet was enough for 300ml of water

The First Ascent coffee tastes ok. But nothing special. For what I paid for purchase and shipping, I can get a similar grade coffee at the local grocery store for 1/3 the price.
